This microwave French toast recipe is fast, mess-free, and perfect for one. Made in a mug with simple ingredients and ready in just minutes.
Ingredients
1 slice of day-old bread, cubed
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk (any kind)
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)
Pinch of salt
Optional toppings: syrup, powdered sugar, berries
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, sugar, and salt.
2. Place cubed bread into a microwave-safe mug.
3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread. Press down gently to soak. Let sit 30–60 seconds.
4. Microwave on high for 90 seconds. If still wet, cook in 10-second bursts until set.
5. Let rest 30–60 seconds before serving.
6. Add toppings if desired and enjoy warm.
Notes
- Use a 12–16 oz mug to prevent overflow.
- Letting the bread soak before microwaving improves texture.
- Best with slightly stale or toasted bread.
